Mar. 19-20 Valley of Fire, NV.
The event is open to anybody who wants to participate, and is being held at the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada, about 40 minutes east of Las Vegas.  The Park really welcomes us and sets us up very nicely with group campgrounds, and a place to throw ISACs at the Atlatl Rock site, right under ancient petrolgyphs made by ancient atlatl hunters.  They also provide 3D animals for us to throw at in an unmarked atlatl competition.  This year we hope to add the Moche Toss to the public demonstrations.

The official event is on Saturday and Sunday, March 19th and 20th, but people can come early if they wish.  We have the campgrounds from Wednesday through Sunday, with the possibility they will hold one campground for folks who stay Monday night as well.

The group campgrounds have space for tent camping, an outdoor restroom, a water spigot (usually), Barbecues and tables in an eating/food preparation area (also a good place for making darts, atlatls, and other crafts), and a fire pit (bring your own coals for the BBQs, and firewood for the fire pit).  The park has free showers, which are not in the group campgrounds, but just a short drive away. We set up practice ISAC targets at the far back campground, and hold official ISACs there as well for folks who don't get to throw at the target by Atlatl Rock.  In recent years there has been limited RV parking in the cull-de-sacs by the campgrounds.

We would like to hold official ISACs each day, Wednesday the 16th, through Mondaythe 21st.  We might as well plan for one on Tuesday the 22nd, in case enough people stay and want to throw in the morning before they leave.

Photos from past events, with some commentary, are viewable at PaleoPlanet.net, on back pages of the atlatl forum.

Anybody who enjoys atlatlry and can make it to this event should really attend - it's a blast!  For more information contact Ken Villars at toxophileken@yahoo.com or villarsCustomBows.com.
